CAMPAÑA DE SOLIDARIDAD CON BARRIOS DE MEDELLÍN - Nomad Travel

SOLIDARITY CAMPAIGN WITH NEIGHBORHOODS OF MEDELLÍN

I think the right thing to do is to make an easy-to-read report addressed to those who have contributed to this campaign, to those who don't know it, and to those who are thinking of joining it.

Fundraising campaign for communities affected by the pandemic caused by Covid-19 in Medellín.
The objective of this campaign is to collect funds to send aid to different neighborhoods of Medellín, where the informal economies that sustained them collapsed and now threaten to collapse the homes of thousands of people. The campaign officially kicked off on April 1, 2020, led by NOMAD and their friends and family. After that first contribution, many more arrived like a magical shower of solidarity. At first, the campaign was directed only to the El Faro neighborhood of commune 8. Later, fortunately, the aid was so generous that we were able to contribute to other campaigns in the La Honda and La Cruz neighborhoods of commune 3 and La Torre, in the Popular 1.

The objective of this campaign is to collect funds to send aid to different neighborhoods of Medellín, where the informal economies that sustained them collapsed and now threaten to collapse the homes of thousands of people.

All contributions were made to the Bancolombia savings account 02191958538 and to the NOMAD Pay Pal account: [email protected].

The result of the campaign until July 27, 2020 is $20'513.182 Colombian pesos collected.

taxpayers Until today they have all been natural persons of Colombian, American, Dutch, Canadian, English and Bangladeshi nationality. All these people joined this campaign motivated by their genuine solidarity and in some cases by the precious memories they took with them from Medellín and the El Faro neighborhood in our experience. Explore an imaginary neighborhood What we are doing since 2018.

Destiny of these aids were the collectives Elemento Illegal and Colectivo por Naturaleza. Both organizations work to support decent development of different communities. They achieve this through art workshops, invitations, humanitarian aid and many other activities.

materialization of the contributions was the purchase of market kits, which included non-perishable staple foods and personal hygiene items. We were also able to contribute to initiatives deworming and vaccination Of pets. In addition, in the last installment we contributed funds for the construction of the headquarters of Elemento Ilegal in The Lighthouse, The Lair. This space is thinking, among other things, as a community workshop where children will receive training on art, music and cinema. This contribution is intended to continue helping organizations that work for the future of low-income and high-talent communities in the city.

What's next in this campaign is to continue collecting funds to help in the same and new ways those populations that we love and that need a hand in these difficult times.

we appreciate it very much To all the people who have joined so far. Your contribution has helped to alleviate a little the suffering of many people. It also makes us very happy at NOMAD to know that we are surrounded by such supportive people with incredible will, even when difficult times are for them too.

Thank you, thank you and a thousand thanks for joining this campaign, for growing together as a society and for believing in the good intentions of companies and organizations. Infinite thanks to Elemento Ilegal and Colectivo por Naturaleza for materializing our aid and for persevering in their projects that bring so much progress to the city.
